Dean’s Scholar Award
About
The Dean’s Scholars Award (DSA) program has $20,000 available to be awarded for the Spring 2024 competitive cycle. The DSA will provide support for career track faculty to conduct pilot projects that are innovative and aligned with the College of Nursing’s strategic plan (https://www.nursing.arizona.edu/mission-vision-values). The following are priority areas for funding:
- Promoting growth and opportunities to generate new revenue for the institution.
- Increasing student success, graduation, and retention, especially for groups underrepresented within the relevant disciplines.
- Increasing faculty and/or student wellness.
- Expanding community partnerships for education and service.
- Promoting diversity and inclusivity.
Funding requests can range from $2,500 to $10,000 for a maximum of one year. The ongoing initiative is expected to be financially sustainable through the generation of new resources or the reallocation of other resources after the end of the award funding period.
Eligibility
All career track faculty. Requests must be routed and approved by the appropriate department chairs, vice chairs, and program directors. Units within the College and across the University are encouraged to collaborate where appropriate.
Evaluation Criteria
Requests will be evaluated against the following criteria:
- Evidence that the request directly supports the College of Nursing’s strategic plan and institutional priorities (30%).
- Likelihood of high impact and return on investment to the university, relative to other submissions (30%).
- Feasibility of the project plan (practical plan, timeline, and budget) and funding sustainability plan (30%).
- Evidence that the request promotes excellence in the College (10%).
Submission and Deadlines
- All applications should be sent to CON-ORS@arizona.edu by 8:00 AM (Arizona time) on Monday, February 5th, 2024. Proposals submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed.
- Notification of the decisions of the review panel will be made by March 1st, 2024.
- Grants will be awarded by May 1, 2024.
- Projects should be completed within 1 year of receipt of funding. Requests can be made for a no cost extension with sufficient justification.
