"Scholarly Inquiry and Interactive Communication”

Dr. Rachel Knight completed her Bachelor of Science of Nursing at Youngstown State University.  While there, she also was awarded a certificate in gerontology with a focus and internship in hospice care. She went on to receive her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Arizona in 2016 with an emphasis in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Her doctoral project was focused on delirium.

Dr. Knight has been teaching as Adjunct Faculty at Boise State University for the past 3 years.  She helped revise and teach all the clinical courses at Boise as well as many didactic courses including Pathophysiology, Professional Role, and Health Assessment.  In addition to her faculty role, Dr. Knight practices as a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner at Pima Heart/US Heart and Vascular. She currently sees patients in the outpatient and inpatient setting and treats all aspects of cardiology care. She also regularly works as a Hospitalist/Nocturnist to remain well-versed in general acute care skills.

Dr. Knight’s teaching philosophy is focused on building knowledge, encouraging self-learning by asking questions to prompt growth, and helping students evolve into well-educated and caring nurse practitioners. Her presentation titled “Scholarly Inquiry and Interactive Communication” will further expand upon this.
