Lifestyle Approaches to Mitigate Biological Aging in Cancer Survivorship

Dr. Skiba is a postdoctoral scholar at Oregon Health and Science University’s Knight Cancer Institute. Her research encompasses both the lifespan and cancer continuum – from diagnosis through survivorship – and is at the intersection of cancer, aging, health behaviors, and technology. With a focus on nutrition and exercise, she aims to address biological aging and metabolic late-effects attributed to cancer treatment through innovative approaches including dyadic health, wearable technologies, and digital and metabolic biomarkers. She is passionate about connecting cancer survivors to the skills and health behaviors that will enable them to live their longest and healthiest life.

Dr. Skiba has over seven years of research experience in cancer prevention and control and has worked on NIH-funded and national multi-site clinical trials. She has formal advanced training in nutrition science, epidemiology, and health behavior from the University of Arizona, received her registered dietitian nutritionist credential through the University of Houston, and has completed competitive trainings from the National Cancer Institute and a R25 fellowship through University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research has received funding from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has experience working with diverse survivorship populations and has an extensive advanced analytical methods skillset.
