Using a Model of Diffusion for Practice Change: Alternatives to Rice Cereal

Ms. Raubacher earned her BSN from Madonna University Livonia, MI, 1984, MSN from Wayne State University Detroit, MI, 1990 and is completing her DNP from Duke University, Durham, NC., May 2018.  She has served in a variety of capacities over the past 28 years as a pediatric nurse practitioner, consultant, and faculty member.  Ms. Raubacher began her work career as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation School-Based Health Center in Detroit.  As a PNP in Detroit, she planned and executed Wayne State's University Public Middle School Health Clinic and opened the "Roll Up Your Sleeves Campaign" West Middle School Health Clinic by coordinating a joint venture between Madonna University and the Detroit Health Department.  Outside of the Detroit Metro area, Ms. Raubacher established the Roberto Clemente Health Center at Children's Hospital of Buffalo, NY and the Oakland Family Shelter Clinic as part of the "Kerrie’s Kids Foundation" associated with the Children’s Hospital of Oakland, CA.

Ms. Raubacher's teaching experience includes faculty for undergraduate and graduate MSN and PNP students alike.  At Madonna University she taught in the BSN Program and, via a joint venture between the School of Business and Jinan University Business Institute, Jinan, China, was selected as nursing faculty to teach a seminar on “Current Issues in the United States Health System."  As well, Ms. Raubacher taught at Samuel Merritt College, Oakland, CA in their BSN Program and the pediatric component of the FNP program.

From a research perspective, Ms. Raubacher authored “Teen Pregnancy Prevention: Who are the role models and educators?” as part of her Master's via a Michigan funded grant for teen pregnancy prevention.  She also presented an article during the National Nursing Conference hosted by Cleveland State University entitled “Transitioning: Creating a Partnership to Address Unmet Needs of a Middle School” and co-authored “Outcomes of a Community Based Education in a Pediatric Nursing Curriculum” funded by a grant from Sigma Theta Tau, Nu Xi At Large.  As a consultant, Ms. Raubacher performed a needs assessment on The Utilization of Advance Practice Nurses presenting findings and recommendation at Children’s Hospital of Michigan.   As of late, Ms. Raubacher is finalizing a quality improvement project as part of her DNP at Duke University involving the implementation of practice change in private practice authoring “Using a Model of Diffusion for Practice Change: Alternatives to Rice Cereal as a First Food for Infants”.

Ms. Raubacher spent five years in mainland China, PRC where she was on the board of the Community Center Shanghai.  She served as an educator on cross-cultural preparedness, taught English to migrant children and collaborated with the Chinese Government on joint community ventures including The Giving TreeShanghai 1,2,3Bao Bai Foundation and played a key role in the medical home for orphans project development.  Ms. Raubacher also worked as a volunteer nurse with local international schools and was a liaison for Cartus Corporation for families moving to China.
