Instructional Resource Center Sheds Light on Learning

The IRC’s services, facilities, and resources enrich teaching and learning at the College of Nursing through technology, instructional materials, publications, and more. IRC offerings include:

Computer Classroom
Room 101—with 21 networked workstations and an LCD projector—can be scheduled for classes or used as an open laboratory.

Instructional Support Services
The IRC offers consultation and instruction for nursing students and faculty on...

Integrating instructional strategies and technology into the curriculum.

Creating and producing instructional/presentation materials.

Computer-based word processing, desktop publishing, telecommunication, PowerPoint presentations, and graphics.

In addition, the IRC...

Investigates resources for instruction, presentations, and projects.

Produces visual materials.

Prepares printed materials—such as signs, brochures, booklets, programs, and announcements—for publication.

Schedules, maintains, delivers (on and off campus), and sets up A/V and computer-projection equipment and video programs.

Researches, requests, evaluates, and orders mediated programs for courses.

Supports online teaching and learning.

Instructional Production Facilities
...for color printing; audio and video taping, duplicating and editing; laminating; image and word scanning; and computer-generated presentations. The IRC produces or helps produce transparencies, computer presentations, slides, posters, signs, programs, brochures, and many other materials.

Mediated Programs
...a large collection of video, interactive videodisc, CD-ROM, and computer-assisted instructional (CAI) programs... on nursing skills, mental health, case management, physical assessment, maternity and child care, critical care, adult health, death and dying, and many other topics. Search for video, CAI, and interactive videodisc titles through the Arizona Health Sciences Library’s online catalog system, ALOE.
