Development and Donor Information

SILC Please know that each gift, large and small, is truly appreciated by our students and faculty. For the 2009-2010 Academic Year, the combined financial need for our nursing students exceeds $2,100,000.

Your support provides the most precious gift anyone can give --- the Gift of Opportunity. The College of Nursing has many students who could not attend college without your financial assistance.

Ranked nationally among the top 6% of graduate nursing colleges, we are preparing nurses at all levels to care for your friends, families and neighbors. Our graduates will become nurses in hospitals, nurse leaders, research scientists, and nursing faculty to teach our next generation of students.

Give the Gift of Opportunity to any of our priority areas or contact us to discuss a more personalized gift that honors someone special to you.

All contributions are 100% tax deductible. THANK YOU!

Current funding priorities:

The Nursing Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Dean’s Discretionary Fund

The Alumni Council

The Fund for Faculty Retention and Recruitment

The Steele Innovative Learning Center Capital Fund

Personalized giving opportunities:

I would like to establish an endowment named for someone very special and inspirational to me.

I would like to explore funding a particular area of research

I want to learn more about estate gifts and guaranteed income through annuities.

The College of Nursing is committed to enrolling students who have demonstrated very high academic achievement. They represent diverse backgrounds but share a common desire to care for others with their nursing degrees. Their 2009-2010 combined need for scholarship support exceeds $2,100,000. This scholarship endowment will provide opportunities for students in need of partial or full financial assistance to earn their degree.

The Dean’s Discretionary Fund
The current economy and Arizona’s budget deficit has caused the College of Nursing to suspend a number of initiatives. To remain among the top 6% of graduate colleges of Nursing in the country, the Dean must have the ability to fund innovative programs and projects that further the mission of the College and continue our national reputation for excellence in education, research and service. Donations to the Dean’s Discretionary Fund are unrestricted and can be used to fund College priorities that are no longer supported with State dollars.

Alumni Council
The Alumni Council sponsors student generated initiatives and presents awards to an outstanding undergraduate and graduate student at each College commencement. Donations to this fund support student activities, Homecoming events, and special Alumni Council projects.

Faculty Retention and Recruitment
The reputation of an exceptional College is dependent on the caliber of its faculty. We are fortunate to have attracted world-class faculty and scholars to the University of Arizona and we want to keep them here. Because it is essential to offer competitive compensation packages to recruit the nation’s most outstanding faculty, this fund assists the retention and recruitment of exceptional researchers and educators to the College of Nursing.

The Steele Innovative Learning Center
The Steele Innovative Learning Center is our high-tech simulation laboratory that requires state-of-the-art equipment. In this unique facility, our students hone their skills and learn to assess their patients in a safe environment.  Donations to this fund will be used to purchase new equipment and provide opportunities for more students to practice their skills. Call us at 520-626-6233 if you would like a private tour.

Establish an endowment named for someone special.
There are many endowment opportunities that can honor the memory of a loved one or celebrate the life of someone who inspires you. Consider supporting our students and faculty with an endowment that uniquely expresses your desire to honor a loved one in perpetuity. Please contact Judith Brown at 520-626-6233 or jbrown@nursing.arizona.edu to explore an endowed gift that will ensure your wishes for generations to come.

Opportunities to support research
Although our faculty have been awarded very competitive federal, state and private funds to support their research, additional underwriting is always needed. If you wish to discuss a special area of interest that you would like to support, please contact Judith Brown at 520-626-6233 or jbrown@nursing.arizona.edu to explore potential opportunities to facilitate exceptional research.

Estate gift opportunities and annuities that provide lifetime income at very attractive rates of return.
Contact our Director of Development, Judith Brown at 520-626-6233 or jbrown@nursing.arizona.edu for estate gift information tailored to your specific tax requirements and philanthropic wishes.
