Development and Donor Information

In response to the national nursing shortage, the University of Arizona College of Nursing is preparing nurse leaders at all educational levels: Baccalaureate, Master’s and PhD.

As our population increases and ages, the need for highly qualified nurses is a national priority that requires immediate attention. The College of Nursing is taking bold steps to address this issue.

We invite you to be part of the solution. We have three immediate funding priorities:

  1. Expand our Patient Care Learning Center (PCLC)
  2. Increase Student Scholarship Awards
  3. Support the College's Innovation through Unrestricted Gifts

Our #1 Priority is to Expand our Patient Care Learning Center

The Patient Care Learning Center is a simulated learning environment that all nursing students use to develop and practice their clinical skills before they begin their clinical rotations in hospitals. From inserting IV’s, to dressing wounds, to caring for acutely ill patients, the PCLC is the essential hands-on learning environment for nursing students.

In order to accommodate more nursing students, the College must increase the size of the PCLC. The number of students using the facility has increased significantly however the PCLC has remained the same size.

We invite you to help us meet this urgent need. All capital campaign donors will be acknowledged on our patron wall. Additionally, there are special naming opportunities to recognize individuals and corporations.

Increase Scholarships and Endowments for our Students

Many of our students are the first in their families to go to college. Higher education is attainable for these students because of generous scholarship awards.

We are preparing nurse leaders for many different nursing careers. When you support our students, you are supporting nurses who will:

Care for our aging population, as well as our children.

Care for those who are acutely ill, as well as those who have chronic medical needs.

Serve in rural communities, as well as urban hospitals.

Become nurse scientists and researchers.

Teach and mentor the next generation of nurses.
