Technical Requirements
What do I need?
What computer system is required to be able to participate in a University
of Arizona College of Nursing online course?
You are expected to have an understanding of Internet and email basics.
You will be navigating and searching the Internet and corresponding with
others in your class using web-based conferencing and email.
RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS - Online courses have the following recommended hardware and software requirements:
- Windows-based computer with a Pentium™-class processor (minimum of 2.8Ghz)
- Windows XP Operating System or later
- At least 512MB RAM (1 GIG or more recommended)
- Video card capable of 16-bit color
- Monitor size is up to you, but we recommend a 17" screen or larger for ease
of viewing (minimum resolution of 800x600)
- Soundcard and computer speakers
- Microphone
- Video webcam
- DVD/CD player (CD Writer desirable)
- Good quality printer
- *Broadband internet connection (Cable Modem, DSL, ISDN )
* Internet service provider (ISP)
The most important component is a high quality Internet connection. Cable
Modem, DSL, ISDN or other high speed, broadband service is strongly recommended.
Dial-up modems, while usable, will result in frustrating results during
conferencing or other multimedia activities.
